What inspired you to become a wedding planner?
The wedding business actually found me. After the unexpected death of a close friend, on the day his son was going to propose at our home (which did not happen), I took it upon myself to pick up the pieces and plan and host a wedding at our farm for my friend’s son 3 months after his death. After that every thing fell into place, and all the signs pointed to me leaving the world of personal training and entering the world of weddings.
What do you love most about being a wedding planner?
I absolutely love the relationships that I have with my couples and their families!
How has your certification and membership with The Bridal Society helped you and your career?
The knowledge I received from obtaining my certification has made me more profitable, and so much more efficient in my businesses.
What does your average week look like?
Woah! It’s safe to say they are busy!
- Monday: I stay at home working on emails, social media, and anything computer related.
- Tusesday – Thursday (Every Day): email, social media, visit our other companies, business lunches, wedding meetings, venue tours, computer work, and pop-up weddings
- Friday – Sunday Morning: I’m busy hosting all-weekend weddings and lodging for 35 people at the Farm.
- Sunday Afternoons from 12 to 5 PM I meet with any where between 5 -10 appointments with potential couples as well as existing couples.
What is one item you can’t live without on a wedding day?
What type of client do you attract?
I have had clients come from all over the United States looking for a destination wedding with lodging and planning.
What is your favorite moment on wedding day?
My absolute favorite moment is getting my bride ready to walk down the aisle. It is such a sweet and intimate moment!
What advice can you give and/or have you received that you can pass on to new/existing planners?
It’s so important to know that not every client that comes to you is for you. Decide what qualities you want from your client, and focus on reaching how you can best reach them.
What advice do you have for engaged couples?
My biggest piece of advice for engaged couples would be for them to always remember that this whole wedding is about their love for each other – not everyone else!
