Happy #WeddingWednesday, Planner Friends! It’s that time of week again! Today on The Bridal Society’s blog we have another amazing CWP to share with you. This week’s Society Planner Spotlight features Priscilla Locke of Priscilla Rose Events.
When asked to tell us a little bit about her and her business, Priscilla said, “I am a full time educator and instructional coach for a middle school. I took the jump of wedding planning two years ago and FELL IN LOVE with it! The skills I have perfected through education have run over into my business. PR Events offers everything from day-of coordination to full service planning. A big goal of this company is to connect and educate couples through the planning process.”

What inspired you to become a wedding planner?
I knew that teaching middle school was not my life long career, but I love educating people and connecting people through resources. Education is a HUGE part of my business. I run a Youtube channel through PR Events and strive to educate couples and other wedding professionals as I continue to grow in the wedding industry as well. PR Events started Real Talk with the Pros, which started once a month as a Facebook Live Series interviewing and connecting with local wedding professionals as a resource to couples.
What do you love most about being a wedding planner?
The “I did not even think about that” moments with my couple. When I feel that I have brought something to the table that they didn’t consider or even plan for, I feel like automatically I have earned their trust and shown my value.
How has your certification and membership with The Bridal Society helped you and your career?
In a job where I am responsible for connecting couples to professionals, its a huge resource for me. I love the community and network. The Bridal Society is definitely a motivator when I don’t feel like being my own motivation. I jump on, hear other stories, struggles and successes, and keep going!
What does your average week look like?
I work full time as an educator, complete in bodybuilding competitions and have a growing wedding planning business, so BUSY! Typically, I teach for 7-8 hours while I send emails, timelines, connect with vendors in between meetings. In between gym training and tutoring sessions, each week I schedule at least one consultation, one vendor meeting, one network event, and check in with my couples frequently. I couldn’t function completing only one task at a time!
What is one item you can’t live without on a wedding day?
Does my sister count? My sister is my assistant (TBS certified this past July) and best resource. We know each other so well, it’s like a dance. I can say one thing and she knows what the next 5 steps are. Find a dependable assistant!
What type of client do you attract?
My client is “Carrie Bradshaw”. My millennial bride lives in a big city and works as an entrepreneur or in corporate America. She is trendy, spends her money on the details, and likes the newest style shoe. She enjoys having a glass of wine with her girlfriends, working out, and she knows the latest celebrity gossip. My couple absolutely needs a day of coordinator and will request a few planning service add ons to ensure their design is on point!
What is your favorite moment on wedding day?
Room Reveal! I love the look on the couples face when they see all the pieces put together. The first dance always makes me cry!
What advice can you give and/or have you received that you can pass on to new/existing planners?
Never stop learning. Educate as you learn.
What advice do you have for engaged couples?
Date nights are a must! Take some time away from the planning at least once a month and just BE together. Remember why you love each other, because sometimes you may forget when you plan a wedding! 😉
